Flashback Friday: North central Calgary times

Going through files — if I can get my files in order then I can get my life in order, right — and found a couple of gems from my Calgary life back in 2017.

One is of the Rosso, one of the few local coffee chains that has bothered to open a location in the North (looking at you Phil & Sebastian). The South always felt cooler so it was nice to have a local spot to go to.

The other is from a Confederation Creek protest march. Those were the days of raucous watershed activism.

March On Vancouver 2018

Today was the anniversary of the first Women's March. There is still lots to march about and a year later it was going strong. I had trouble finding info about the event in Vancouver but just managed to do it and went. It was nice to see people out and get in the spirit even if it was a little cold. I ended up leaving midway through speeches because my cough was getting bad and I was like I must flee to warmth.

I also enjoyed how at the beginning everyone gravitated towards the covered space and then there were large clumps under the glass shelters. We can hide from the rain and protest. Damn straight.
